February 2021 Net Worth Update

March 2, 2021

Welcome to another net worth update of 2021, the February 2021 Net Worth update.

How are you doing? If you’re new to SavingsPinay, you may be wondering why I post my net worth update every month. If you’re not you can easily skip to the next section.

The main reason why I do net worth updates is to stay accountable with my finances. As to why I share them publicly revolves mainly with my core objective of bridging the financial literacy gap among Filipinos one content at a time.

I hope you enjoy today’s post.

February 2021

The month of February went by real fast.

It’s the shortest month of the year after all.

I can’t believe we are now through in the second month of the year. In just two weeks it will be the anniversary when the enhanced community quarantine was declared. Whew.

Anyways, financially I feel like the month of February 2021 went great. I still managed to track my variable expenses and true enough this money habit has become a life saver for me. Listing down everything that I bought provided me with understanding on my own spending habits.

I was also happy because for most of the times I went to work my Mom will make me baon. Nakatipid talaga ako sa pagkain this month. I normally just spend money on rice which cost me only Php 10 unlike last month when I would spend Php 50 to Php 70 per meal.

The only big expense I had for the month of February was the dinner we had as a family during Valentine’s Day. Other than that, I was a good girl 🙂

February 2021 Blog Updates and Highlights

I really thought February will be a more productive month for me. But sadly, I was still procrastinating. I had a lot of planned posts I wasn’t able to publish.

We also reached 6000 followers on the SavingsPinay Facebook Page.

For February 2021, I only posted four posts. In case you missed any of my posts, here they are:

7 Money Saving Challenges You Can Try This Year

How to Fix Your Budget and Make it Work

January 2021 Net Worth Update

8 Reasons to Start a Side Hustle

Another great news that I’ve only known at the end of February is that my post 7 Money Saving Challenges You Can Try This Year was featured in Motley Fool’s own curation project – All Star Money.

I received an email from none other than J Money which is a financial blogger I follow in the US who once owned Budgets Are Sexy! Imagine how excited I was.

It says on their About Us site that every day they scan over 1,500 personal finance sites and select our top 3 favorite articles to share on the homepage.

And my post was part of the top 3 articles last February 3!

It’s such an honor to be featured. The fact that I haven’t even submitted my blog to their curated list and I got selected from over 1,500 personal finance sites all over the world! What a dream! Also J Money my idol saw my blog! That’s definitely a milestone worth keeping.

February 2021 Side Hustle Income Breakdown

For February 2021, I was able to cash out my Google Adsense income and wow it was a lot!

The amount is now reflected on my net worth below.

Because I already had my payout, I went back to $0 on my Google Adsense threshold. But, amazingly I am now at 41% in my goal of $500 Google Adsense income.

Thank you so much for continuously reading the blog.

Aside from Google Adsense, I also had income coming from a new student who enrolled on my Money Coaching Program. I’ve briefly talked about what the Money Coaching Program is on my 2020 Side Hustle Income Report.

February 2021 Goals

I posted my 2021 goals not long ago and something I learned to be very effective in life is the power of measuring your progress.

Excited to share with you how I’ve been moving in terms of my goals for 2021.

Financial Goals

End with Php 500,000 net worth. If last month we had a loss in our net worth, this month proved to be different. I finally moved a bit on my starting net worth. I have been following my budget well and tracking my expenses. So far, I still feel like I can manage accomplishing this goal. Since I already have my emergency fund checked, it really gives me that upperhand on my finances.

Grow Side Hustle Income to Php 100,000 net. Amazingly, the side hustle income also moved for February 2021. Grateful for the Google Adsense income I’ve been getting as well as the new enrollee for the Money Coaching Program. There are opportunities opening up for the blog but nothing is final yet. I am hoping the month of March 2021 will be good as well in the area of side hustle.

Total Money Saved and Invested to Php 100,000 net. I was able to accomplish saving and investing 35% of my salary for the month of February. What I did is actually set up my mobile banking to transfer x amount of money every first day of the month to my brokerage account and my mutual funds. I’ve also been adding to my GSave account every month as a form of extra savings since I already hit my emergency fund.

Finish my 2021 Sinking Funds. I’ve shared my 2021 Sinking Funds in this post and I actually have two categories – personal and work. So far, each of my sinking funds are in progress. I can’t write down specific progress yet.

Blog and Business Goals

Upload 2x/week on YouTube. YouTube is my biggest venture for 2021. I really want to publish new videos on my YouTube channel. The plan to have my first few videos up in February 2021 has been pushed. I tried filming videos here and there but I really can’t with the noise in around my neighborhood. The plan for now is to transform the other room in the house as a working studio. That room is more quiet than my bedroom. I will be moving the whole YouTube goal to April 2021 instead.

Blog 100 times. I haven’t been blogging that much for February 2021. So far, I only published four posts which is only half of my target of 8 posts a month. Will work better next month.

Release at least three (3) Paid Products. One great thing I manage to accomplish for the month of February is I now have a concrete plan on what my next paid product will be. March will definitely be a busy month as it’s when I plan to do all the hard work for it.

Get one (1) month ahead of blog posts. As mentioned, this area has been a work in progress pa din. The best I can do currently is one week in advance. At this rate, I’ve been able to write and publish all posts for the week over the weekend which allows me more time in the weekdays for other things.

Update blog Main Menus and Archive. Updating the blog Main Menus and Archive will not only allow a better reading experience to my readers. It will also help me identify what posts am I missing. I also want to use the Main Menus to offer my services.

Reach $500 Total Google Adsense Payout. In my 2020 Side Hustle Income Report you’ll know that Google Adsense is one of the areas that I earn as a blogger. My main goal for 2021 is to continue earning well on it since it’s more of a passive one. With $208.45, I am now almost halfway to reaching this goal. The year is starting really well for me in the area of blogging.

Personal Goal

Read 20 books. For 2021, my target books to read is 20. I haven’t finished any book for February 2021. I am hoping next month will be better.

February 2021 Net Worth Update

I’ve been tracking down my net worth since 2017 and it’s very motivating to see my progress. Grateful I am now green in terms of my net worth. I’ve been pretty consistent in following my savings and investment schedule which is really A-MAZ-ING.

Some things to note in my February 2021 Net Worth Update:

  • The market has been really down on the month of February 2021 and my investment were definitely affected. My main goal is to follow my investment schedule. What I’ve been reporting are the current value of my investments and not the net amount or how much I’ve invested so far. The best thing right now is I am on track with my saving and investment schedule. I am not as worried with the current value because I am investing for the long term.
  • The main reason why I need to make money on my blog is because I have recurring expenses to maintain it. The month of February was good because I earned a lot that could cover the expenses for the month.

Next Month’s Plans

As I mentioned earlier March will definitely be a busy month in terms of my side hustle. It’s a month meant to do real hustle such as work on my second paid product, do more blog stuff and really work on the routines I’ve been slacking for the past two months.

I finally determined what my deliverables every week and every month are and it’s really up to me to do the hustle. Now let’s talk about the big plans for the next month.

First on my list is to finish my first personal sinking fund. I set a budget for my new pamangkin’s gift. My sister’s due date will be March 2021 and I’d like to see her with my gifts.

I still have my long-standing task since last year which is to finally release the remaining episodes for the Season 1 of the SavingsPinay Podcast.

I know YouTube is such a big part of what I want to achieve this year but with the current situation I think I’ll have to postpone this to April 2021 instead. By then, I can transform the other room in the house as a studio so I know I can upload better videos.

For the month of March 2021, I’ll shift my focus on the paid product I will be releasing on April 2021. Two main tasks that should happen next month – buy the needed materials for the paid product and create prototype of the paid product.

I also want to release the SavingsPinay newsletters.

Lastly I want to continue on my good habit of following my budget and tracking my expenses. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Last Month’s Goals: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Cash out my Adsense income – DONE

Release remaining SavingsPinay Podcast content – FAILED
